Created from a body and chassis kit by Hawk Cars, the vehicle was completed in 2000 by an engineer enthusiast who never drove the car. Since purchased by the current owner in 2008, great time and care has been taken to re-create a car as close to the original AC ACE 2.6 as possible. With full period instrumentation and switches, including a restored original ACE bakelite steering wheel. This car has extensive show history, taking centre stand at the AC 289 register stand at NEC in Nov 2009, with photos of the original designer's son, John Tojeiro sitting in the car. There is a huge build and photographic file with the car including all invoices of both the initial build and subsequent work. This car runs on a period BMW M-20 2.6 litre engine with triple 40 DCOE Webers and a Getrag 4 speed gearbox, producing over 170 BHP on such a light car is a thrill to drive and listen to with its exhaust note. Attention to detail on this motorcars creation adds to the owners desire to produce a car that can easily stand not just beside the original, but also in its own right.

AC Ace by Hawk was built in 2007 and was used by the first owner for five years; he covered around 10,000 miles in that time including several trips to Le Mans. The second owner was based in France, he collected the car from North Yorkshire and promptly drove it to the Loire Valley. After six years of ownership, he then drove the car to The Goodwood Revival where it was sold, the new owner being based in Sussex. Sharing the same twin rail 3½ inch diameter round tube chassis as the Hawk 289, since being built in 2007 the only major mechanical upgrade the car has received is a limited slip differential. Powered by a 2.5 litre BMW engine which is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, again a BMW unit, the front suspension is double wishbone and the rear suspension is Hawk competition leaf springs. Disc brakes with four pot calipers are on the front and the rear brakes are MGB drums. Sitting on 16 inch Aston Martin wire wheels and shod with Avon Turbosteel tyres and finished in Aston Martin California Sage. This AC Ace is supplied with a V5C registration document together and an MoT test certificate valid until 5th November 2021. The car also has a collection of invoices and the French registration documents.
