Welcome to our Re-Creation AC ACE Website
This website follows the build of a HAWK AC ACE with pictures, supplier information and reference materials for other builders. It is to be noted that as many original AC parts will be used as possible married to the MGB set up for suspension and steering.
THIS WEBSITE HAS NO COMMERCIAL INTEREST - It is a private site following a private project. I get many requests for help trying to locate parts and I am happy to help as best I can. Any pictures on this website are for reference purposes only and have been sourced from my own camera, multiple websites, forums, blogs and social media platforms freely available around the net. |
Over 1500 people visit this site every week with over 8,000 page views every month - thank you!

This site is dedicated to the build of a Hawk Cars re-creation AC Ace. The plan is to use as many AC parts as we can to keep it looking authentic. Our car will have an AC engine and gearbox just like the very early Aces as well as many other original AC parts. The chassis is provided from Hawk Cars as it is a replica of the original AC Ace and represents as true a reflection of the Marque that is available today as does the body shell provided by Hawk. Use the navigation on the left to explore.

The Picture of our engine at the top of the page.Picture is of our AC 2.0L engine. It has a 'D' suffix the engine number that we have been told denotes 'Development' so potentially an AC works engine that was used to replace a defunct 2.0L engine in a saloon. Our engine number is one of the ten missing engines from AC records in consecutive allocation to vehicles. As far as we know this is the first to appear and the 'D' suffix suggests that all ten were set aside for AC works developement. As with all early AC ACEs the engine number starts 'UMB'. We have been told that the 'D' development probably has something to do with the 'White Metal shell bearings/casings'

Recent developmentsLatest Video - The Gearbox is back from Overdrive Repair Services. The work these guys do is amazing. I use them for all my gearbox rebuilds. You can go the the video diary HERE. Visit the Gearbox HERE.
The body, chassis & engine are together.Things are starting to move now as Andy is fabricating the unusual mount points for radiator, engine, gearbox and finding a way to route the exhaust.

So far, we have an engine, gearbox, radiator, steering wheel with centre, wheels, pedals and linkage, fuel cap, some switches, some chrome. Chassis and body from Hawk.
If you have any parts you think maybe of use to us please get in touch via our Contact Page. AC Engine spares for the 2 litre engine are readily available from Rod Briggs. Rod has an excellent website with a lot of reference information. He also manufactures parts. We are under no illusion that building our Hawk AC Ace will be nothing but a huge learning curve - but a lot of fun with an incredible car at the end of it! |

Prior to starting this project I restored a Triumph TR4A IRS. The Hawk AC Build promises to be challenging compared to the TR as many of the parts are not easy to come by to keep it as looking as original as possible. You can visit the TR4A restoration, build and information website by clicking here: www.tr4a.weebly.com The website now gets 2000 visits a month from TR fans and builders with over 23,000 page views. It is a free premiere resource for the TR community worldwide.
